Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a sticky situation, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, chewing gum eventually transforms into a dark smudge on your concrete. But usually before then, pedestrians and clientele walking into a business will step on it and get it in all over your carpets and mats. Then it is forced deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else.
We are happy to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Elizabeth NJ. Find information on our service below:
The best methods for removing gum from concrete usually depends on how long the gum has been stuck there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left not long ago and it hasn’t penetrated the surface, we might be able to get it off by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping it off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a more forgiving substance compared to a gooey and stringy mess. Once the chewing gum is frozen, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper directly under the gum. Next we move the scraper very slowly beneath the gum and the entire piece should then peel right off of the concrete.
The above method is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove chewing gum that is already black, or is smashed deep down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water pressure washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal, we don’t use very high pressure because that might harm the surface of the concrete!
Our team never uses more pressure than necessary to safely clean concrete surfaces. These surfaces can be damaged a lot easier than people think, especially if they’re only 1-2 years old. Concrete can require up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional gum removal professional.
To completely remove chewing gum from sidewalks and other commercial surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing equipment and special soaps and detergents that enable us to clean the surface without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure, we are able to safely remove chewing gum and dirt all while protecting the surface. Our service will also destroy bacteria and germs that can be found in gum.
